Wandsworth Traffic Warden strike over as GMB members accept major pay uplift
Members will receive a pay rise of 11.5 per cent, plus guaranteed pay rises for the next two years
GMB, the union for parking attendants, can confirm that their members working for NSL within the London Borough of Wandsworth have ended their long-running dispute with their employers.
The members, who have taken a total of 20 days of strike action since June, have accepted an improved pay deal which will see them cancel four further days of action scheduled for September.
The new deal will see members’ basic wages increase by 11.5 per cent immediately with a protected pay rise for the following two years too.
Paul Grafton, GMB Regional Officer said:
“It’s about time this dispute got settled, as our members have had to take a lot of strike action, foregoing their wages on each occasion.
“This offer shows that the money was there all along, and if NSL had been honest about what they could afford from the outset, we wouldn’t have seen so much disruption on the streets of Wandsworth.
“Our members would like to thank the residents of Wandsworth for their support throughout the campaign, as they have been very supportive.
“This was never about anything other than ensuring our members can continue to keep their heads above water in the current economic climate, and it’s great that the local community gets that.”
