New PPE guidance for Health and Social Workers welcome, but "Devil will be in the detail"
After weeks of pressure from GMB Union it is good to see the concerns of our key worker members listened to
GMB, the union for health and social care workers, has welcomed today's new Public Health England guidance on PPE - but says the devil will be in the detail.
Rachel Harrison, GMB National Officer, said: “After weeks of pressure from GMB it is good to see the concerns of our key worker members on the frontline have been listened to.
The lack of PPE for health and social care workers is a crisis within a crisis and GMB has been highlighting this to all Government departments.
“Our members’ health and safety has been put at risk and this new guidance empowers workers to make their own decisions regarding the PPE they need.
“However, issues remain with supply chains of PPE and GMB will keep up the pressure on the Government to ensure full protection is delivered to all areas that need it.
“GMB will now make sure all health and social care workplaces follow this guidance and provide the necessary PPE to all workers.”
