Coronavirus advice for cleaners in Local Government and Schools
Important advice below for cleaners working for local governments and/or in schools
GMB is the largest trade union amongst school support staff including teaching assistants, HLTAs, cover supervisors, nursery nurses, lunchtime supervisors, premises staff, and administrative & finance staff.
Teachers had their workload reduced which resulted in a change and expansion of Support Staff roles. We in GMB know the difference Teaching Assistants and support staff make every single day. Whether it’s supporting a teacher, helping a child, or working with the most vulnerable students, TA’s make our schools better places.
In these circumstances it is more important than ever to belong to a trade union. Collectively your voice is stronger. On an individual level we represent members in grievance and disciplinary meetings, offer legal advice and also offer criminal legal support in the case of false allegations being made.
